What we collect, why, and who processes it
- Waitlist email. If you sign up, we store your email to send the confirmation and course updates. Processor: Resend. We keep it until you ask us to delete it. A one-way hash of the email (not the address) is sent to PostHog to count signups.
- Account. If you sign in, we store your email address, when the account was created and your Stripe customer ID in Redis (Upstash/Vercel KV), and send sign-in links and billing reminders to it through Resend. Signing in sets a cookie (
ta_session) holding a random, signed session ID; it lasts 30 days or until you sign out. This cookie is strictly necessary. - Payment. Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details; we never see your card number. We store what you bought and until when (plan, renewal and pause state) against your account. Purchases made before accounts existed used a cookie (
ta_access_v1) holding a random, signed purchase ID, stored with a one-way hash of the purchase email; signing in with that email moves the purchase to your account. - Practice answers. When you submit a practice answer for scoring, the text is sent to OpenAI to produce the score and feedback. Answers and scores are stored in a Redis database (Upstash/Vercel KV), keyed to a random ID on your account, to power your progress page on any device you sign in on. A copy of each answer, its scores and your random IDs is also kept in a Postgres database (Supabase) so we can see which questions and options work and improve them. They are kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Analytics. We use PostHog (EU region) to see page views and feature use. Server-side events use your random account or purchase ID, or a hash, as an identifier, never your raw email.
- Hosting. Vercel hosts the site and sees standard request data such as IP address.
- Your browser only. Reading progress, exercise progress, theme and your cookie choice are stored in your browser (localStorage) and are not sent to us.
Cookies and analytics opt-out
Analytics cookies are off until you click Accept on the banner. Before that, and if you decline, PostHog runs without storing anything in your browser. You can change your choice by clearing this site's browser storage, which shows the banner again.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@techabstractions.com. To find your practice data we may need the email used at checkout. We will respond within a reasonable time.
